Merlin 200,000 Mile Shop chain has introduced a third Equity Assistance Program for franchisee candidates. The Two Language Program (TLP) is designed to assist a bilingual franchisee candidate purchase his or her new Merlin franchise by means of an equity award in the amount of $10,000. The candidate must show substantial proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in at least one other language in addition to English.
The purpose of TLP is to attract high-potential, bilingual franchisee candidates and, thereby, take full advantage of the talent that exists throughout all segments of the society. There is power in diversity, and an important objective of TLP is to attract the best in franchisee talent.
"We see the benefit of improved customer sales and service, as well as better employee relations, when a franchisee can speak more than one language," said Frank Smola, Merlin President. "It's very natural that customers and employees feel more at ease when speaking their first language."
TLP is the latest addition to Merlin's other special Equity Assistance Programs: EDP and FASTRAK.
EDP (Entrepreneur Development Program) awards a shop employee from $7,000 to $10,000 in equity assistance toward the purchase of a Merlin franchise when he or she is sponsored by a Merlin franchisee or a company shop manager, meets specific qualifications, and works a minimum of two years for the sponsoring franchisee or company-owned shop.
The FASTRAK Program awards from $9,000 to $15,000 in equity assistance toward the purchase of a Merlin franchise to qualified candidates who have significant industry experience.
